"Broadly speaking, the short words are the best, and the old words best of all".
Sir Winston Churchill (1874 - 1965)
Well now I have entered into my Taper time!
This last weekend has been hard and knocked me back quite an bit in terms of fatigue. Sundays run was reduced to the 90 minutes on the running machine as the weather was dreadfully windy and wet. However a great session which afterwards felt as if someone else has been running it for me. Thank you who ever you are. It was later on Sunday that I started to feel a few niggles but nothing that would hold me back the day after when I had and easier 45 mins once again on the mill due to the weather. I hate running on the mill but whilst listening to the BBC coverage of the Olympics and a profile of one of our runners and how he trains regularly on the mill to work on cadence. Well now I love it and can't wait to do more!!! However after a disappointing performance in the women's Triathlon I needed to get rid of some anger and worked a little harder than prescribed.
Well that leaves today and the early start for the Men's Triathlon. I felt let down by the Don and Clarke however Alister surprised me with his attacks of the front and up till 7.5k was still in contention. However he faded as the experience of Whitfield and Docherty turned up the heat on Gomez forcing him out of the medals. Well I didn't expect anything else from our men as the pressure was on from the start and they are marked men. At least we have all the others to pin our hopes on, the cyclists, the rowers, the swimmers and the sailors.
Today's sessions (yes sessions!!!) started early in the pool. It is official I hate children, well not really just their parents who have no respect for others in the pool and they wonder why I get upset when I stop and stare after being jumped on my their brat or they stand on the wall when I'm tumbling. 2k later and I just got out, no time to complain or have a tantrum as I had to eat before the big one. The big one involved a 40k hard bike transitioning into a 10k hard run. Well after a storming bike of just over 1:05 sitting at just over 80% I jumped into my shoes and ran of down the road feeling comfortable. More comfortable than ever before and relaxed. 45mins later I was back and showering before work and a quick snack.
My regrets for today.......Not stretching after the brick. Not eating properly before work and the crash that ensued......I must have been worse than a women with PMT. I'm just glad to be on teas and keys which means I have the keys to the stock cupboard and loads of sweets at my fingers.
Now the highs.....33 medals so far. My previous prediction of 30 was good but now I'm going to say that we are going to get 40 now. BMX, triple jump and the boxing. I also think that there is only 2 more golds out there with our name on it.

Yes......i thought it was just me that had to put up with kids deliberately getting in your way and pensioners....they are worse!
ReplyDeleteHey! Leave us pensioners alone!! Blinkin youth of today....think they own the pool! wouldn't have happened in my day..... tsk tsk
ReplyDeleteI have tumbled a kid into the wall. His dad pulled him up in the end and then told him not to jump in the pool when someone was swimming.
ReplyDeletePoor kid was winded and choking...never did it again!
