Active Recovery or Final Swan Song

I am nearing the end of my time at Coningsby and recently returned to Lossiemouth with the Sqn for a few exercises. Not the most glamorous of destinations for a Swan Song however I did enjoy my return to the Moary Firth.

Training has been a little up and down over the past fortnight with sessions being missed or aborted due to the weather or feeling tired from working hard. I have to admit it was a lot harder than I remember running on the soft sand dunes along west beach in the morning as the the Firth gently lapped on the golden sands below. During these quiet moments i have realised that I want to return to Moray in a year or so and take full advantage of the excellent training conditions available.

I have one regret though and that was not going out for longer on the bike during the middle weekend and really hammering home the mountains whilst I had the chance to enjoy them. Instead I joined the rest of the boys in watching the SA thumping and gauging the Lions in the second test. Followed by a lazy Sunday, which eventually saw me go out and potter on the bike with an old friend for a few hours.

Having not swam for 10 days now I need to get back in the pool and get the mileage up again. I had the wetsuit and kit with me, I just feel a little weird about swimming in the Firth with seals and whales, dolphins and all the other creatures of the deep.

Well I'm back now and getting ready for the IS in 27 days. Training is resuming on Saturday and I hope to be motoring after my active recovery up north.
