If carrots are so good for the eyes, how come I see so many dead rabbits on the road

What a weekend. After a few easy days of training and a well earned massage from Maddy the pain enforcer on Wednesday night I was feeling a lot better come Thursday morning, although slightly bruised and sore. Which has prompted me to purchase a foam roller from her to play with in the front room. Along with my Fit Ball, Wobble boards, Swim Cords and Therabands it is starting to look like a fetish room or the local remedial centre.

After a good turbo on Thursday I was soon back coaching the ankle bitters on Friday night at the Lincoln Kids Tri club with Judith and Pinky. In only 3 weeks of coaching we have managed to reach capacity of 20 in the studio and it looks to become even more popular over the summer months as I plan the Kids Tri for September. This week we continued the format of running drills using the agility set the club has purchased. They seem to love doing drill work and games, at what age do we stop liking it. I will admit the brain storming sessions on the Saturday to plan the sessions are good and as one idea is merged with another they become excellent ideas. However I am trying to think of new ways to keep the entertainment levels going as well as educating them in the correct techniques. We have some great kids here and two already show great promise in swimming and running.....it won't be long before we see them competing against the old faithfuls in the Corus Elite Series.

After the highs of Friday night Saturday morning was manic, 6:30 swim at David Lloyd and the Stapleford Duathlon (what a venue to train in)
The swim Set:
200 warm up,
10x100 with 15 secs rest
10x200 with 30 secs rest
200 cool down.

I was on fire hitting 1:30 for the 100's and once I was warmed up I maintained 2:45 for the 200's. With open water swimming starting soon at Tatershall on the Saturday I can't wait to be let loose in the lake to see the improvements of the winter.

A short 12k run at 4:15 pace in the afternoon before the momentous occasion of Ireland winning the Grand Slam. I though I would never see that happening soon after 3 years of just missing out on the final day. The welsh were worthy losers putting up a fight until the dying minutes. It almost reminded me of JW in the World Cup you just knew he was going to score. I had a feeling it was just going to miss. Sorry to rub salt in any wounds.

And then it was Sunday, A group ride was planned around the David Lloyd Sprint course followed by a cafe stop. Some big hills and head winds buffeting were in order before a front end puncture slowed me down a few minutes. After heading into to Lincoln and to the Cornish Pie Shop to have a pastie We headed out on the Lincoln 10k route only for my seat post clamp to shear. Oh well not to worry it's under warranty and hopefully a quick call to Saddle back (the felt UK distributor) will sort everything out. In the mean time I will have to practice on the other one more.
