The UK comes to a halt.....but I can still turbo

“To appreciate the beauty of a snow flake, it is necessary to stand out in the cold.”

With two days of thick bleached pure white snow in deepest Lincolnshire I have to admit that training has continued and studying has lapsed. With the trips to Marham becoming perilous with every mile turning back was the best option. 60 miles each morning setting of at 6 with a vat of coffee and toast to arrive in time for lessons of Tornado Electrical systems. So when the snow came it was a welcome excuse not to travel on Monday which then left me in the predicament of failing an exam on Tuesday with a day less of learning than everyone else. Well after a valid effort I just failed. Maybe more study is required. So today when the snow lay thick on the A17 and I had to abandon my journey again. My though was first on today's exam and then sod the exam at least I can have a good day training, putting my self back in a good frame of mind to study......the exam can be recovered I keep getting told.

This past week has been big. Taking Saturday off only meant more during the week. With Sunday spent on the Lvl 2 coaching course with swimming assessments I was glad after swimming over 5k (mostly technique) on the Sunday to be not going to Marham to study. Instead I went back to bed for a while, travelled into work studied for a few hours before hitting the gym for a 1 hour treadmill run of 13.1k. Outside these sessions are easy inside on the mill they hurt, no air no freedom to change strides and bad TV programmes. Well it killed me in the end. After a few recovery snoozes and afternoon TV I ventured out to the pool for another big session.

400m warm up with 2x(100 hard; 10 secs, 200 hard; 20 secs, 300 hard; 30 secs, 400 hard; 1min, 300 hard; 30 secs, 200 hard; 20 secs, 100 hard; 10 secs) ending with 400m easy cool down. Well as you can imagine my arms were ready to fall of. Managing to maintain 1:30 pace all the way through was hard. However the more I plod this out the easier it all becomes. Especially if I'm wearing my drag.

Back to Marham on Tuesday only meant one thing an early start and plenty of time off for training at lunch. A speed spinning session that was great fun. When you feel your body rejecting your mind you know you are working hard and I am enjoying singing along to the sessions. Hitting the gym that night for the first of two weights sessions this week. I can say I am looking more Beefcake than Sponge cake. Then back to the pool for another session. I used to find it annoying when slow people got in the fast lane and now I have mellowed. My sessions are moved around to accommodate the pools sessions. So on Tuesday when the Rock Apes got in and tried showing off I decided to overtake doing 400m single arm, reverse breathing drills (no legs). All I can say is making it look easy is hard especially in the choppy conditions but after 40 Min's of overtaking them with drill work they soon realised that they had interrupted my session.

Yesterday lunch time was reserved for a pyramid running session. 200m, 400m, 600m, 800m, 600m, 400m, 200m with 2 Min's rest. Despite the frosty roads and icy patches I managed to hit the target times and enjoyed the sun warming session. It is nice to be outside again training. With only 30 days to go till Clumber these sessions are great to do. Later in the evening I ventured into the shed for a 2:30 turbo revision session. With an intention of passing today's exam.

With the snow still falling I think today will now be spent productively training. Swimming over lunch with a weights/ core session this afternoon and turbo this evening. Before packing for TCR tommorrow.
