Decision Time

“There are times when a battle decides everything, and there are times when the most insignificant thing can decide the outcome of a battle” Napoleon Bonapart

week 3 of the course involves a swim and run coached session. As well as prep work for assessment week 4. These have to be my strongest areas of the coaching. I hate cycling and after last week I think everyone knows how much I hate coaching it. Hopefully the final assessment isn't a cycling one. Half of the 8 coaching hours have been claimed and all that is now required is a change of sport and linking the sessions together. Easy! As well as pass the final exam.......argh! Oh well at least the training is great. Splits and maintained efforts on run and steady long bikes are still the order of the day but the swims have kicked up allot. 2x 4k swims and a drill session before easing for session 4 at the end of the week.

The forecast cold spell is worrying especially as I still haven't been out on the bike since Christmas. The turbo sessions have been good and in the shed I have enjoyed many hours of radio 2 and studying but I miss the feel of the road and with no one to go of with at the moment motivation is deteriorating. On a plus note though I have entered despite the impending global financial crumble, Lincoln 10k and in the next week or so Squires and Spires. It then leaves me with those decisions can I afford the trip or can I not afford to miss it. Watch this space!

AGM or TCR, well as I was only planning on the Friday pre meeting TCR was an option but now the super powers have cancelled it I am in doubt. Alternatively I just go to TCR and work, miss the AGM and enjoy the TCR 10k and 220 Awards dinner. I do have one of the RAF bikes to drop of and once I have arranged who or where I think I will disappear to TCR and join my friends and the Pacesetters crew.
I do think that once this season is over I will have to step down from the committee as Deputy Race Director. I will have enjoyed 3 years in post and after many months of consideration and juggling I think I have done enough and need to rest on my laurels and enjoy competing a little more.
