“The trouble with the rat-race is that even if you win, you're still a rat.”
The past few weeks have caught up with me. Fatigued after a heavy party/ training week at the beginning of Feb then taken ill for a few days a week later. After taking it easy and recovering I once again stepped back into training without any real thought.
Monday back out pounding the road with a 19k at 14.6km/hr pace (yeah right) after the first 45 minutes I had to settle back into a more comfortable speed and managed to cruise the last 45 minutes at 13. Despite a short fall I will say that with Fleet only 2 weeks away I feel that a sub 1:30 will be easily attained but anything below 1:25 is gone for another year. Maybe if I put in some altitude training just before it could happen next year.
The weights sessions are hurting now I have never lifted such heavy loads. Trying to maintain a good form is key but as you tire the core plays up and before long you are cutting corners and not really gaining anything. I do know that I need to do even more core work as just sitting in the car these past few weeks driving back and forth to Marham I can feel a weakness. which is why I am glad the course is now over. Roll on Monday when I start driver training for Minibus and trailer.
Brick session tomorrow. 20 mins at each set. Last week the 10's felt great and for an hours work out I really enjoyed the training, especially with the new toy. Ain't I-Pods brilliant! Nothing like listening to a bit of Def or Sabbath to get you going.....however singing along to Girls Aloud is bad skills or being distracted by the Saturdays on TV whilst on the treadmill not advised.
The racing calender is filling up and after a successful ITU Technical officials course in Windsor I can see the coming few years really whizzing past especially with Scotland and Ireland hosting major competitions next year and London a few after. Refereeing has been confirmed for me as Rother Valley (Disabled Championships) and Wakefield. The rest of the season is going to be split between TT's in the Lincolnshire Area. All Inter services Events and the occasional International. I am still waiting back for confirmation on Prague but now it has been confirmed as O3 I can see my place being cemented soon.
I'll let you know how the brick goes
