"Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life." - Terry Pratchett.
Well after 18months of living in the house I finally decided on getting the Internet. The only problem is now I don't have time to train and work is boring! So I have decided to Ban it during the week and only available once I have done my training sessions. How do normal people balance their lives....what do I point the furniture at once I get rid of the TV which is the next step.
This week has been fantastic with regard to the Olympics. 7 medals in 5 days and we haven't even got to the rowing or cycling. So this weekend will mostly be spent catching up on the repeats after training sessions. Tonight I have another 4k swim to do but the lake is calm and the weather fantastic so no dramas. Another massage with the delightful Maddy tomorrow and then the final push on the weekend 4k swim Saturday, Social Breakfast and then a 5hr bike. Sunday will finish of with a 90 min run and loads of painting. I can't wait to taper now.
This weeks sessions have gone well and after the big run on Sunday I was happy to be back where I was at the end of last year. I think I should just take it easy for the next two weeks and give it everything on the day. I just hope it's wet, windy and miserable. I've had to train in it all year so everyone should have to race in it for my benefit! I'll settle for dull though as the last time with 40 degree heat in Oz was a killer, a race of survival.
I also joined the local club last month and attended a session at Waddington. Not bad but I think that as the training goes on I will just coach at the sessions and leave my training to one side so as not to be in the way of everyone. I enjoyed it but without the push of faster swimmers I was concentrating more on technique than executing it right. Level 2 in January so more coaching could be on the cards. However with 2 years left in the RAF I need to work out what my next step is going to be......something I just can't decide on in a whim.
Dude! Don't even go near complaining about balancing life and training until you have a wife and kids!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that you are approaching top form for Almere. I expect you to be ahead of me for sure!
I'll be there or there abouts. I'm worried about sharing with Westy as he is very dis-organised and this annoys me alot so watch out for teddies being thrown out of the pram.
ReplyDeleteHow do you like the new count down clock...You can't have one untill you've done the Ironman, it's the rules. I've found loads of new things including a tool that could see my training diary on line soon.
Nice countdown mate but I don't want one.........IM not for me (see my last post!). I use an on-line training plan/diary www.triblogs.com It is excellent and free too. It's even helped me get sort of structured!
ReplyDeleteChuckle, know what you mean about Westy! Remember the wheel magnet episode in the dark prior to the Vit last year!! And the pump adaptor..... and..... and....
