Today the greatest show on earth kicks off. Well actually it started on Wednesday with the football, but tonight or later today actually the Olympic ceremony starts what is expected to be
the best so far. I am sceptical about our prospects but I do think we can come away with about 30 medals this time. Mostly from the rowing, sailing and cycling maybe in the pool but definitely on the track. My ones to watch The track boys Wiggins and Cavendish not to forget Hoy and Pendleton. However the safe money would be on on Ben Ainsley getting his 3rd gold and 4th Olympic medal this time round as well as young Tom Daily upsetting the books. However my biggest suprise so far had to be Mark Foster carrying the flag......at his age should he even be up this late.

However Triathlon wise I would like to say Don and Avil for gold but unless they both are exceptional I can't see them on top but definitely podium contenders.....Gomez and Snowshill for the top with Witfield and Don and Gemmel taking the next slots and the ladies will fight it out between Fernandez and Avil with Allen as a surprise bet.
Training for me has been rained off this week and reduced to indoor sessions and most of the time the motivation has been lacking. This weekend is relatively quiet and will give me time to get the essential maintenance done like wheels trued and bike cleaned before the pack up. I am still niggled by injury but only when I think about it. Saturday all being well I'm in the lake for 4k and then on the bike for 2 hours in the evening. I'm getting more time in running and have a 90 min run at sub 5 to look forward to on Sunday morning. However that is more appealing than painting and gardening at the moment which is essential. My garden has turned into the amazon jungle and the smell from my trainers has managed to peel the paint of the skirting......time for some new ones I think!
"In the name of all competitors, I promise we shall take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules which govern them, committing ourselves to a sport without doping and without drugs, in the spirit of true sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honor of our teams." The Olympic Oath
Mark Foster is young dude!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIn terms of sporting prime he is past the display by date. Only one more Olympics in him I think then he will be past the best before.
ReplyDeleteI only refer to him as a piece of meat as this is what i think Iron Girl sees him as!
....oh dear. I am past my 'best before' date 8-( All down hill from now for me. Just make sure that you beat the old men at Almere. You should be out the swim 10 mins before me!
