Saddle Sore!

"The extra mile is the stretch of road that is never crowded."

I have been trying out a new saddle from ISM over the past few weeks and today I made my decision, it just wasn't for me. Having fitted it to the new bike and spent many hours on it the only positive things I can say are:
1. The lack of numbness in long rides
2. The handy racking hook incorporated in the back of the saddle

Unfortunately due to the wider noses it rubbed me raw, I'm a traditionalist I would prefer to be numb than sore. However they are a good saddle and possibly more suited to you. I used it on Sunday in the Spalding 25mTT and until the 40 min mark everything seemed to be going well until it rubbed me the wrong way. It didn't stop me pulling out a 1:05:07 on a windy and rolling course and also walking away with my first prize fund; £10 for winning my category :) However I am back to bedding in my old felt one again hopefully in time for this Saturdays 50.

Training is going well in the lake and after another 3500 set on Monday I feel better in the water than i ever did before. Lets hope I can continue to improve on my times and fitness.

The chocolate knee is managing to hold together at the moment, my next assessment is Wednesday. Lets hope I am now on the mend and not harbouring anymore niggles.

  1. Nice riding Mike, it must be nice to walk away with a prize. Other than sharing the team prizes at the RAF Tri races it has never happened to me. I did win a cuddly womble in a raffle once. I think I was about 10 at the time.

  2. Glad to hear that you are shaping up at last Mike. I would like to see that fork like saddle! I get some numbness so it may work for me.....it may suit my skiny thighs too!
