"Suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret!"
It's the day before the RAF champs and once again I will not be racing the short stuff. I will in fact be refereeing again, I'm now up to 45DQ's this year alone and look forward to breaking that magic 50 this weekend, so be warned.
This weeks training has been strange and slightly easy. After the run on Sunday I was feeling a slight niggle in the knee and worried it was something worse I contacted the Physio and waited until Wednesday for the assessment. After prodding and poking around the decision was made that the original injury had been sorted but the repair was causing friction and irritation. So another assessment in 2 weeks after running to see if there is an improvement. However it didn't stop me training and on Monday I was back on the X-Trainer for 45 mins working it before joining Boston ASC for a great session.
Tuesday at 4:30 is a great time to go for a cycle everything is calm and the roads a free of traffic. An hour on the new bike was great and only ruined when I had to get of. Tuesday night down Boston for a hard set in the pool. 300 FC, BSCW, BK warm up, 5x200 FC Pull, 5x200 FC on 3:30. Finished on a kicking set to take it up to an hour.
Wednesday was another run day and after another 30 min on the XC i finished with a weights set. I'm feeling great and I will admit to checking out myself in the mirror. I am beginning to feel more confident and look confident. They say that confidence is the biggest hurdle.
Yesterday was another session on the bike. With the high winds and rain i opted for the Turbo and found the motivation hard but once I got started I found it easy again. After a slow day at work I then went for a dip at Tatershall Lakes and tried out our new lake. What a lake it is only 1-2 metres deep in places and sand based so clear and calm. After a circuit of 1000m I was feeling great and looking forward to our next session on Monday night.
With 71 days to go I am looking forward to racing at Almere and know that everything I am doing is positive and benefiting me maybe not this year but next year.
