Well all is not so Rosy at the moment. After being in so much pain at Barcelona I decided to get some medical advice. Not good I'm afraid....it is believed that I may still have the broken toe and this will result in no running for a few weeks. However I am still to see the specialist on Thursday but could manage a few short sharp runs of road to keep me ticking over in the mean time.
Training has been great other wise. I managed to potter about at the end of last week and relax back into everything, finally unpacking on Friday. However when ever I get time to myself there is always that one phone call that shatters all my free time. This time it was my poor planning, I had forgotten about a meeting I was supposed to be having and despite turning up on time in the end I felt like too much of my day had been lost to really be productive. Better planning is required.
Friday nights social went well after another great children's session. The kids are really working well and soon I will be having to work harder in training just to stay ahead of the older ones. Down the pub with the club. By the end of the evening I was hugging a lovely scatter cushion with tassels so much I neglected to see that I had left the pub with it still under my arm. Mortified I returned it back to the establishment under the guidance of several of the club athletes.....spoil sports.
Now the weekend. Well after Swimming on Saturday at the lake I was supposed to go straight out and run 16k at 13.5 kph however 4 rounds of toast latter I was then venturing out on the 2.5k laps around the lake with Judith in the Midday sun. As I managed to get to 12.5 the pain in the foot was too much and I decided that 15.3k was more than enough especially at that pace. I was glad to stop I can tell you.
After a shower and some gardening it was time to join Pinky, the Randy Fireman, Maddy, Allessio and Judith at Kyles for the latest round of the dinner parties. BBQ, Tiramasu and drinking can only lead to one thing... TWISTER. Many adults contorted in varies entangled positions. To some fore play to others and me to add the most painful positions man has ever encountered or inflicted on himself. Drinking and Twister should not be allowed....that is until the next party at Alessios.
So as you can expect Sundays 4 hour hell in the hills was aptly named. Joining Kyle for a hard ride I managed to clock up 115k in the 4hrs before he peeled of for another 2 and finished of with an hours run. I do envy his determination to train, especially in the heat we are experiencing at the moment.A quick Radio apperance with the kids and it was then all about crashing out on the Sunday night in front of the TV.
Monday a short 4mile run at a quick pace (14.4kmph) before swimming only 4k of my 5k set....I just ran out of pool time, before coaching Lincoln at Waddington. Nice to see the old faces again.
Looking forward to this weekend at Rother Valley. Lets hope the weather is good like last weekend as the tan lines need some more work.
