"Don't let what you can't do stop you doing what you can do!"
After a long season of many injuries. I am now wondering what determines our response to a good or bad season. Is it constantly surrounded with failure that sees us as putting a positive spin on everything or is it just the way we are and see things.
I spoke with Scott today and he was not a positive about his season as I was. He had several top 10 finishes including a a great placing at IMUK despite being injured and ill for a part of the season. In only his second season he has already performed better than previous years but had the success from 2007 overshadowed this. I then started to look at my season again. If anyone else had my season would they have been as happy and put a positive spin on things. Maybe they would have rested and recovered quicker or pushed harder during the season and base to improve twice as much.
The only thing I do know is I achieved everything I set out for (after changing a few goals during the down time). I am working on the long term and not the short term and feel that my next season will always be a better one.......
Training is feeling great after a 1500m TT in the pool which despite a chest infection I still managed in 23:11. Running comfortably at sub 5min k pace now and enjoying the ups more than the downs is a thing of the past......we the ups are almost killing me especially when they just go up and up and up some more.
