I put the FELL into Fell Running

Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall” Confucius

Well what a week of training. After an eventful day of being castrated by the management at work everyone set about cleaning on our day off monday. After the work was done and we were sent home I was asked if I fancied going for a run around the Trona_Pinnacles, a lovely historic site and very attractive at sunset. After about 40 minutes of running and climbing up the pinnacles I caught my foot and rolled up the hill and the proceded to slide back down on my back.
Well all I can say Is I was a little shaken at the time but looking back on it I can only laugh. Needless to say the Pinnacles are made from fossilised mud and its like having a grater for a slide. Ouch!
So tuesday morning to prevent stiffening up I ran to the pool and gym did my sessions and ran back. Infact all week I have done this as it works alot better for me. I get a session in before swimming and after. I'm still finding it hard running out here and just go steady at 5min pace. With the temp still in the late 80's it can be uncomfortable especially with the reflective heat as I found out yesterday.
After speaking with Doug M, I realised I could go faster on B mountain and decided to give it a go yesterday morning. Running from the hotel to the Gym 4k, Gym to the mountain 4k. So after an 8k warmup I tackled the mountain. 5k up this time in 27:30. With a few 20% "walls of stone" this is no walk in the park. Blowing a bit I jogged down and proceded back to the hotel. Well all I can say Is 2hrs in total of running and I'm wasted. Will I have it in me to pass my fitness test later today......I hope so

  1. You're finally a man my son - you've been blooded on the fells. You'll be a vet when you've had so much blood run in to your fell shoes it won't wash out...

    Good work!
