Well its back in training ready for next year. With less than 180 days until my first competitive race next year I have plenty of time before I need to be a sharp as a butchers pencil. I decided to start with the Fleet 1/2. I missed this event last year due to injury and have decided to turn up and see what all the hype was about. I know that I am once again running well and hopefully injury free I will be running well and fast by then. It's a fast course and hopefully I can set myself a new PB.
Cycling has picked up where I left of and today was the first session of the season. Out on the roadie and just spinning along at 60-65% felt great. With the warm weather and altitude camp starting next week I should be covering allot of miles on the road and hills over the next 5 weeks. Despite the excellent opportunity to train in good weather I think this period will mostly be concentrating on improving my swimming and strengthening my legs especially my right knee which has been plagued with injury this year. Yesterdays pools session was hard on me as I struggled and felt like I was battling with the water. Have I lost my love of the water?..I certainly don't feel at one with it anymore!
The swimming is going to start next week 24hrs before flying out to LA. Dawn is going to analysis my stroke, break it down and rebuild it. How much of an improvement we will make depends on m putting to effort in. How much faster just depends really on how perfect I am......which means I have allot of work before Christmas. I would like to go under 30 mins next year at the vit and it is possible especially as I have been racing one individual all year and he pulled of a great result at the vit to finish in the top 30 and sub 4:20.... which has made me wonder am I fully committed to my training or am I easily distracted. We will see next year on the 5th September.
