After the Interservices I will admit one mistake or two. The navy actually won the vets prize and not the RAF. My mistake and one I will hope to forget soon and I should have worn shorts as the weather was great but the weather on Thursday was awful and my legs are still pale and white.
I eventually made it back into training on Saturday after being diagnosed with an allergy to insect bites and told to rest up for a few days. So Saturday after waking up Ady and eventually getting down the lake I managed a 4k set and a fry up before cycling to Lincoln to help with the transition set up of David Lloyd. Only to find that they were not starting at their usual time and cycled back showered and drove back later in the car. Not bad for a Saturday 4k swim and 135k cycle. It's nice to be back in a sane frame of mind again.
Sunday I refereed David Lloyd and watched the IS guys fight it out for pride on a great course. Andy R took top honours and also won the Timex series with a string of impressive results. The down side was after DQ a competitor for riding on the wrong side of the road he got a little upset and after about 60 mins of abuse and complaints he eventually went home. Despite riding on the wrong side of the road on two occasions he also just managed to miss being hit by a car. Why argue with the inevitable take it like a man and move on, don't complain then make up stories of how you were getting abuse from marshals and that it was someone Else's fault.
With this being one of the last OSB events of the year everyone returning to the Hamilton estate and enjoyed good company and the trampoline off....I am now sore, my newly recovered knee is a little swollen and tender but after today's session with "the man" I feel better and have no more worries. So it's now back to training and plenty of swimming tonight before stake and tour and a lye in tomorrow! Mmmmmm Meat!
You must have the patience of a Saint to withstand 60 minutes of abuse; I would have taken no more than 5% of that before advising said person to pick his window. I assume you banned him from all future events for good measure? And then name and shame on public forums? And every time you see him from now on just say the word "cock" as you walk by. Childish, I know, but revenge is a dish best served cold.
ReplyDeleteI have never abused a ref (except you Mike, but that has nothing to do with your refereeing skills! :-) ) and always make a point of thanking marshals - is that so hard?
I agree with Turbo. We need the marshals to keep us sane....once o the bike we can be in a zone that can make you do strange things! I have become more controlled as time as slipped by. Same rules for everybody........ but we can still abuse Mike......for just being Mike!
