The nightmare of Christmas

“The only guide to man is his conscience; the only shield to his memory is the rectitude and sincerity of his actions. It is very imprudent to walk through life without this shield, because we are so often mocked by the failure of our hopes and the upsetting of our calculations; but with this shield, however the fates may play, we march always in the ranks of honor.”
Sir Winston Churchill

I'm not a festive person and I do look forward to working over Christmas on guard, but this is really only because it allows me the opportunity to have extra time during the season with my family and friends. I thought this year would be the great leap forward for next year I so deserved after many months injured and depressed and looked forward to the following year with much anticipation and excitement.

However once again the festive period has managed to get me down and as a result I need a pick me up. I have entered all my races for next year and planned my time with family carefully as not to disrupt my training plans. The only thing I never factored in was falling for someone and having them break my heart, but then who does!

As the new year approaches I have decided to share with you my hopes and dreams for 2009. Make of them as you will but one thing I ask is be supportive of them.

You are probably wondering why no International duty this year. I am still undecided as to which one or any. My thoughts are drawn to Prague in August but my heart lies in Oz in October. My body will decide in March.

  1. Dabbling with the fairer sex can cause that, tread carefully my poetic friend!

Some challenging targets there; I will be very interested to see how you go at Barcelona, esp on the bike course. I am also tempted by the IS 25mile TT and the sub-hour challenge.

All the best for the New Year.

  2. Bollox to to Perth Tinman. Have a go at IM Western Oz in Dec instead, you won't regret it.

Use the break up to help you on to greater things in training. I know how you feel. Now HTFU and get down the gym and build some lady pulling guns (you need them for cycling just ask Turbo!).

  3. Well everything seems to have sorted itself out. She has accepted me and my training commitments and I have accepted that I may need to make some time for her!

Forget doing anymore IM i prefer the GB tag and my thoughts are being swayed somewhat. However I will wait until March to decide and commit.
